(Southfield, MI) – Concordia volleyball went on the road Friday evening when they continued WHAC play against Lawrence Tech. The Cardinals came in 4-4 overall, fresh off a 3-2 WHAC win over Rochester, while the Blue Devils entered 8-1. CUAA fought hard and put together several runs throughout the match, but Lawrence Tech handed the Cardinals a loss in straight sets.

Delaney Bennett (SR/Fruitport, MI) led Concordia with 6 kills in the game. Kaitlin Veihl (JR/Muskegon, MI) had a team-high 11 digs and tied Lena Thompson (SR/Howard City, MI) for second with 5 kills. Hailey McCourt (JR/Toledo, OH) recorded a team-leading 13 assists in the match.

Set 1 – LTU 25, CUAA 13

Hailey McCourt recorded the first point of the game with a kill for the Cardinals. Lawrence Tech responded with a 9-1 run, taking a 10-2 lead midway through the set. Delaney Bennett led Concordia with 2 kills in the set, but the Blue Devils pulled away and claimed set 1 by a score of 25-13.

Set 2 – LTU 25, CUAA 18

Delaney Bennett scored Concordia's first point in set 2, making a kill through two Blue Devil blockers. After falling behind 9-5, the Cardinals rattled off 6 straight points behind the serving of Tara Schatzle (JR/Brooklyn, MI). Lawrence Tech retook the lead, but CUAA still remained close throughout the set with Gabrielle den Boer (JR/Canton, MI) and Kaitlin Veihl notching multiple kills. However, LTU won 25-18 to take set 2.

Set 3 – LTU 25, CUAA 10

After a 4-0 Blue Devil run, Delaney Bennett once again notched CUAA's first point of the set with a kill. Lena Thompson recorded a kill on the run to help the Cardinals keep pace, but Lawrence Tech slowly pulled away. The Blue Devils secured a 25-10 win in set 3 to claim the overall match.

Concordia will have a short turnaround as they continue WHAC play on Saturday, September 21 with a road match against Lourdes. The game is set to begin at 1pm.
