Program news and competitive updates

  • On November 7th the program  partnered with Extra-Life to host a 24-hour stream. The Cardinals program had over 19 team members raise a total of $1814 for Beaumont's Children's Hospital in Royal Oak. Donations are still open and can be accepted on the team's page.

  • Fortnite (composed of Zach Burk, Jack Melton, and Glenn Rose) competed in a weekly PlayVS league with their best finish being 8th place. Burk led with 5 eliminations. This past week, Fortnite wrapped up its PlayVS season, finishing in the top 100 teams in the country.

  • Rocket League also finished its PlayVS season with a record of 3-11, with all three wins coming in the final weeks of the season, showing a drastic improvement over the last two months. Noah Pastrana, Cloe Smith and Brandon Troyer led the Cardinals in competition throughout the season.

  • Zach Yoder finished 4-2 in the weekly Super Smash Brothers Ultimate Xanadu online tournament for a 33rd place finish, the best SSBU finish in school history. He then followed that performance with an even better one on November 19th with the Shell Shocked online tournament where he posted a record of 3-2, putting him into a tie for 17th place. In that run, he defeated top players from Michigan State and ranked players from west Michigan. Justin Goodrich also competed in the same two tournaments with school record-level results, going 4-2 (65th place) and 2-2 (33rd place), respectively. Paul Gauss and Hunter Smith were also contributors to the SSBU team.

  • Andrew Foerster was the first Cardinal to compete in the LevelNext Fall Champions Series Madden 21 tournament on Friday night.  The nationwide collegiate tournament featured a $100,000 prize pool. Foerster fell short in the first round as he was narrowly defeated on a last second field goal against Youngstown State.
