Esports Weekly Update (March 27th - April 2nd)

Concordia's Overwatch team took a 3-1 loss to Keiser University Pembroke Pines, but the team's progress was obvious as they took a round for the first time in the season. They will play Western Michigan this week on April 5th.

In Fortnite solos, Zach Burk had a rough week, but with a few weeks remaining, he is looking to bounce back into the top 100 form he had shown previously.

CUAA's Madden solo players both righted the ship after the past few weeks as both players got wins. Andrew Foerster defeated Buena Vista University to improve to a 3-2 record while Austin Poe defeated South Dakota, improving to 4-1 on the season. As it currently stands, Poe is tied for 4th in the nation while Foerster is tied for 10th. There are two weeks remaining before playoffs begin.

Rocket League's PlayVS league play continued with the CUAA Black getting two wins (one by forfeit) over Johnson C. Smith University and New Jersey Institute of Technology. The team this week featured Cloe Smith and newcomers Shayne Erni and Nick Althouse. The CUAA Red team, featuring Noah Pastrana, Brandon Troyer, and Mike Brannan, took two losses against Akron and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Both teams will play again this Thursday, April 8th.

Concordia is still looking for the next great recruit for all of their teams in addition to students interested in stream broadcasting and/or community/social media management. If you are interested, contact the Director of Esports, Dominic Scala, at dominic.scala@cuaa.edu.
