Football shuts out Judson 54-0

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia football hosted Judson on Saturday afternoon for another MSFA crossover contest. The Cardinal offense fired on all cylinders while the defense pitched a shutout in a dominant 54-0 victory.

 

Gavin Brooks threw for 209 yards and 5 touchdowns. Parker Graham led the rushing attack with 110 yards while Elijah Taylor added 109 yards and a rush TD. Jordan Garcia led receivers with 71 yards and a touchdown while Seeger DeGayner hauled in 66 yards and 3 TDs. Bailey Brooks also had 62 receiving yards and a TD.

On defense, Chase Maynard led the team with 11 tackles. Casey Rauch was second with 9 tackles. Liam Karry notched 6 tackles.

 

Concordia kicked off to begin the game. Marvitis Dupree came up with an interception to end Judson's opening drive. The Cardinals converted on their first drive with Gavin Brooks finding Seeger DeGayner for a 16-yard touchdown. After a defensive stop, Shondel Hardnett found a seam down the sideline and ran for a 63-yard touchdown to extend the lead.

Concordia made a 4th-down stop in the second quarter and Gavin Brooks found Seeger DeGayner for their second touchdown strike. Parker Shuman made a fumble recovery on the next series for the Cardinals. Gavin Brooks eventually led an 11-play, 91-yard drive before halftime with Jordan Garcia hauling a 10-yard TD. CUAA led 28-0 at halftime.

 

In the third quarter, Parker Graham gashed the Judson defense for gains of 20 and 25 yards. Gavin Brooks then found Bailey Brooks in the endzone for a 25-yard touchdown. Parker Graham later made a 49-yard gain to move the offense downfield, setting up Seeger DeGayner's third receiving touchdown on the day.

Elijah Taylor continued the Cardinals' big day by breaking a 63-yard rushing touchdown. In the fourth quarter, Cardinal special teams came up with a safety after Judson had trouble with the snap on a punt. Dejai Robinson added a 26-yard field goal and Concordia secured the 54-0 shutout as time expired.

 

Concordia will have a bye next week and then travel to NCAA Division II Wayne State on September 30 at 6pm.
