Football Blanks Madonna 67-0

(Livonia, MI) – Concordia football traveled to Madonna on Saturday afternoon for an MSFA matchup. The Cardinals were firing on all cylinders and came away with a 67-0 win.

 

Gavin Brooks threw for 299 yards and 4 touchdowns. Brad Sollom passed for 77 yards and a TD. Brandon Stewart ran for 70 yards and a touchdown. James Carpenter added 55 rush yards and 2 TDs. Seeger DeGayner led receivers with 203 yards and 4 TDs. Nicholas Patton had 67 receiving yards and a TD.

 

On defense, Andrew Wiemer led the team with 7 tackles and 2 INTs. David Cagle and Evan Pittinger tied for second with 4 tackles apiece. Gabe Whitmore added a 70 yard "pick 6" as well.

 

Concordia received the opening kickoff and converted on their first possession. Gavin Brooks found Seeger DeGayner for a 15-yard touchdown to open scoring. Later in the quarter, Gabe Whitmore made a 70 yard "pick 6" to extend the lead. On the next series, LeRoy Watson forced a fumble which was recovered by Marvitis Dupree. Gavin Brooks found Seegar DeGayner for an 11-yard touchdown and a 21-0 lead.

 

Concordia's defense forced a three-and-out which led to Brandon Stewart punching in a 1-yard rushing touchdown. CUAA led 28-0 after the first quarter.

 

In the second quarter, James Carpenter capped a 7-play, 90-yard scoring drive with a 1-yard touchdown run. Gavin Brooks later found Seeger DeGayner for a 14-yard touchdown, the duo's third connection of the day. Brooks fired deep to DeGayner a fourth time for a 58-yard touchdown strike later on. James Carpenter continued piling on points with a 50-yard rush touchdown. CUAA led 55-0 at halftime.

 

Concordia's defense forced a safety at the start of the third quarter. Andrew Wiemer continued to pace the defense with two interceptions in the quarter. Caiden Thomas tacked on a 44-yard field goal to extend the lead to 60-0 after 3 quarters.

 

In the fourth quarter, Brad Sollom fired deep to Nicholas Patton for a 67-yard touchdown strike. The Cardinal defense continued to maintain the shutout in the 67-0 victory.

 

Concordia will travel to Saint Francis (IN) next Saturday at 1pm.
