DeGayner and Rauch named to the AFCA/NAIA All-American teams

(Kansas City, MO) - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) announced the 2023 Fall NAIA Football Coaches' All-America Teams on Wednesday morning and Seniors Seeger Degayner and Casey Rauch were honored on the First and Second All-America teams respectively. 

 


FIRST TEAM

SEEGER DEGAYNER | SR | GRAND BLANC, MICHIGAN

 

 

The senior was named to the NAIA First-Team for the second team in his Cardinal career being named to the First-Team for the second straight year in the All-purpose position. 

 

DeGayner once again tallied over 1,000 All-Purpose yards for the third season in a row, as he tallied his most this season with 1,401 total yards, which is the 21st most in the NAIA this season.  

 

On the offensive side of the ball, he brought in 15 touchdowns (second most in the NAIA) while catching 56 passes for 899 yards. 

 

In addition to making the All-America team this season DeGayner earned Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Player of the Week once and National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week twice. 

 


SECOND TEAM

CASEY RAUCH | SR | ALEXANDRIA, KENTUCKY

 

 

Rauch is making his second appearance, first as a linebacker, on an All-America team after appearing on the First Team in 2021 as a punter.

 

The senior recorded 93 tackles this season which was 24th-most in the NAIA this season with 28 of them being solo and 65 being assisted tackles. In addition, Rauch added 2.5 sacks and 7 tackles for a loss and was tied for the fourth-most forced fumbles in the NAIA with 2. 

 

Rauch also added 2 interceptions to his stats this year as he also returned one for a touchdown in the first game of the season against Taylor. 

 

In addition to being named to the All-America team this season, Rauch took home 3 MSFA Player of the Week awards and 2 NCCAA Player of the Week honors this year. 

 

Degayner and Rauch join Andrew Foerster (2021 Spring, 2nd Team), Alex Hinojosa (2021 Spring, 1st Team), Ryan Fish (2021 Spring, Honorable Mention), Donovan Corlew (2018 and 2019 Honorable Mention), Joe Conner (2018, 1st Team) and Takari Johnson (2014, 1st Team) as Cardinals throughout program history to be named to the NAIA All-America Teams.
