DeGayner & Thomas win Player of the Week honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast and the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced on Monday afternoon the Football Player of the Week awards and Concordia Cardinals Seeger Degayner and Caiden Thomas earned honors for their efforts in the 67-0 win over Madonna.

DeGayner would take home the MSFA and NCCAA Offensive Player of the Week honors while Thomas was named Special Team Player of the Week.

Degayner, a senior from Grand Blanc, Michigan, took home the honors after four first-half touchdowns, which ties the program record for most receiving touchdowns in a single game. In addition to the four scores, he tacked on 203 receiving yards on seven catches, as he averaged 29 yards per reception.

Thomas, a freshman from New Baltimore, Michigan, saw his first action on the season against the Crusaders on Saturday. He put up 10 points in the game as he made seven of his eight extra points, while also making a 44-yard field in the third quarter.

This is Degayner's first MSFA honor this season and the second NCCAA award, as he also earned an award earlier this season. This is the first award in Thomas's Cardinal career.

The Cardinal Football team is back in action this weekend as they will travel to Fort Wayne, Indiana for a matchup against the Saint Francis Cougars as they have a 1 PM kickoff.
