Men's Lacrosse kicks off season with a 21-3 win over Mount Vernon Nazarene

(Mount Vernon, OH) The Cardinal Men's Lacrosse program opened up their 2021 season with a bang on Saturday afternoon as they trounced the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars. Concordia earned their first win of the season by a score of 21-3.

 

  • Blake Blaisdell drew first blood for the Cardinals less than a minute into the game with his first of six goals on the day.
  • After a second Blaisdell goal the Cougars found the back of the net to make bring the game back within one.
  • Shortly after, the Cardinal offense exploded, scoring four straight with two goals coming from Devin Wolever.
  • Mount Vernon got their second goal early in the second quarter, but the Cards responded with 14 unanswered points from six different scorers.
  • The two sides traded goals in the final five minutes, finalizing the score at 21-3.
  • Hunter McCarty accumulated 6 goals for the Cardinals, tying him with Blaisdell for the team lead. Blaisdell and Wolever led the team in assists with 4 apiece.
  • Sam Bowling was between the pipes for Concordia and saved 17 Mount Vernon shots on the day.

 

The Cardinals will look to remain unbeaten on the season when they host William Penn on March 8th. Faceoff will be at noon at Cardinal Stadium.
