McCarty named WHAC Offensive Player of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) – The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon and Hunter McCarty was named the Offensive Player of the Week.  McCarty led the Cardinals offensive attack with 6 goals and 3 assists in the 12-11 upset win over No. 8 Tennessee Wesleyan.

McCarty was aggressive for the Cardinals from the start scoring the team's second goal. McCarty scored three of the five goals in the first half. The freshman standout remained aggressive giving the Cardinals their largest lead of the game 12-9 with 2:15 left in the game.  McCarty totaled eleven shots with nine coming on goal. He also tacked on three assists and three ground balls.

McCarty has made an immediate impact since joining the Cardinals. Through two games he has totaled 16 points on 12 goals and 4 assists. McCarty has a shooting percentage of 63.2 and a shot on goal percentage of 78.9.

McCarty joins fellow teammates Blake Blaisdell and Sam Bowling for being honored by the WHAC as player of the week. Blaisdell and Bowling earned the recognition after the Cardinals first win this season over Mount Vernon. Blaisdell and Bowling also went on to earn NAIA Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week as well.

The Cardinals will return to action this Friday when they begin WHAC play. The Cardinals will face Lourdes on Friday, March 19th at 4pm in Ohio.
