(Upland, IN) – The Concordia men's lacrosse traveled to Taylor on Saturday afternoon looking to continue their undefeated season.  The No. 6 Cardinals came into the contest 6-0 while the Trojans entered 5-5.  After a close first half CUAA trailed 4-3 heading to the locker room, but the Cardinals surged back in the second half to win 11-7 and improve their record to 7-0.

 

Devin Wolever led Concordia with 5 goals in the game.  Noah Sorenson and Ryan Illes each recorded 2 goals apiece.  Sam Saje led the team with 9 ground balls.  Austin Ventimiglio had a team-high 2 caused turnovers.

 

Sam Bowling started in net for Concordia, making 10 saves.  Sam Saje won the opening faceoff and wasted no time scoring an early goal to put the Cardinals on top.  Taylor tied the game 1-1 and both teams exchanged defensive stops and caused turnovers.  Noah Sorenson was able to convert to give CUAA a 2-1 lead after the 1st quarter.

 

Taylor scored two goals in the 2nd quarter to take a 3-2 lead at the 8:51 mark.  Ryan Iles tied the game with 6:32 remaining off an assist from Noah Sorenson.  Taylor was able to capitalize on a late powerplay and score a go-ahead goal with just under a minute remaining in the quarter.  CUAA trailed 4-3 at halftime.

 

Taylor scored two more goals to begin the 3rd quarter and extended their lead to 6-3.  The Cardinals began to mount a comeback when Ryan Iles ran towards the net and fired a shot in the goal.  Noah Sorenson scored his second goal of the game and Devin Wolever tied the game with just 29 seconds remaining in the quarter.  The score would be tied 6-6 heading to the 4th.

 

Devin Wolever recorded the go-ahead goal on the powerplay less than a minute into the 4thEvan Stuart found the back of the net for an 8-6 lead, but the Trojans countered with a goal to trim the lead to one goal.  Devin Wolever answered by completing his hat trick and then added two more goals to keep the Cardinals ahead for good.  CUAA claimed the 11-7 win as time expired.

 

Concordia improves to 7-0 and will return home on Wednesday, April 7 to host rival Siena Heights.  The game starts at 4:00pm
