(Ann Arbor, MI) – After securing their first Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) player of the week honors of the season, the NAIA announced their weekly awards. With conference winners from around the NAIA advancing to the league level, the NAIA announced, Blake Blaisdell and Sam Bowling offensive and defensive player of the week at their respective positions. This is the first NAIA honor in the men's lacrosse program's young history which also makes it the first in the careers of Blaisdell and Bowling. 

 

The conference (WHAC) and national (NAIA) recognition comes on the heels of the Caridnals dominating 21-3 win on the road against Mount Vernon in their season opener.

 

The Romeo native Blake Blaisdell kicked off his farewell season with a 10 point performance for the Cardinals. He beat the Cougars goalkeeper 6 times for the double hat trick while adding for assists to his stat line. Seven out of Blaisdell's eleven total shots were on frame while also adding a ground ball for his efficient outing.

 

The former Chief from Canton Sam Bowling made his name known around the conference with his 17 save performance against Mount Vernon. Bowling faced a total of 20 shots from the Cougars' attack while only allowing 3 shots get the best of him. Bowling's stout performance between the pipes help give Concordia the momentum they needed in order to start their 2021 campaign 1-0.

 

The Cardinals will return to action on Thursday, March 11th when they travel south to face Tennessee Wesleyan. The game is scheduled to start at 3pm.
