Stropich's late goal leads Cardinals to 1-0 victory over Red Wolves

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia University women's soccer team traveled to Centerville, IN for a short one game road trip matchup against Indiana University - East. The Cardinals entered the match with a 3-1 record, while the Red Wolves entered at 2-3.

Throughout the first half of the game the Cardinals played a good majority of the game in their defensive half of the field as the Red Wolves were able to get nine shots off, but Concordia goalie Anna Roman was able to save all five shots that were on goal. The Cards had two shots at the half.

Second half saw good defense from both halves of the field as neither Concordia nor Indiana East could get anything in the back of the net, despite good looks from both teams. In the 87th minute of the game the Red Wolves made a crucial late game mistake and fouled the Cardinals in the goalie box. Isabel Stropich would take the ensuing penalty kick and be able to score for the late 1-0 lead.

On the defensive end, Haley Jacobson played the final 19 minutes in goal and had one save. Offensively, Kendra Lewis led the team in shots with two.

The Cards will return home to Cardinal Stadium next Friday, September 17, when they will match up against Judson University with a 2:00pm kickoff.
