Hazel Wright named WHAC Defensive Player of the Week

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon and Freshman Hazel Wright was named the WHAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Wirght's defensive work as center back was instrumental in keeping the Cardinal's clean sheet during their 1-0 victory over Judson this past week. She also recorded two shots on goal in the contest, including firing home the game winning goal in the 78th minute against the Eagles. Wright took a short pass off a free kick and struck a beautiful ball from 27 yards out into the top left corner to beat the goalie.

Hazel is the first Cardinal to be named WHAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week this season. She joins teammates Anna Roman and Isabel Stropich in receiving player of the week honors as each of them received NCCAA recognition earlier this season.

The Cardinals will be back in action Wednesday, September 22 when head to Mount Vernon, OH to face the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars at 4pm.
