(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's soccer played host to UM-Dearborn on Friday afternoon as they continued WHAC conference play. The Cardinals entered 8-2-1 overall (2-1-1 WHAC) while the Wolverines came in 1-4-1 overall (0-3-1 WHAC). After a scoreless first half, Kiera Savage scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute to secure a 1-0 shutout win.
Anna Roman started in goal for Concordia, making 2 saves. Roman stayed sharp with 2 saves early in the game as UM-Dearborn attacked the net. Hazel Wright recorded the first shot on goal for the Cardinals as the teams battled in a defensive first half. Samantha Putnam kicked a high curling shot on goal late in the half, but the match was scoreless at halftime.
Hayley Jacobson came in to play goalie in the 2nd half, recording 3 saves. Concordia threatened early in the half with a corner kick and a shot on goal from Kendra Lewis. Samantha Putnam rang a shot off the post from the side of the net as the Cardinals continued attacking. CUAA broke the shutout in the 60th minute when Kiera Savage blasted a shot in the goal from the right side.
Hayley Jacobson remained solid in net and the Cardinal defense was able to maintain the shutout for a 1-0 victory.
Concordia will head on the road next Wednesday, October 13 to face Cleary at 4pm.
