Cardinals finish regular season with loss at conference leading Aquinas; earn 6th seed in WHAC playoffs

(Grand Rapids, MI) The Concordia women's soccer team took to the road for their regular season finale against the top team in the WHAC, Aquinas College. While Concordia took an early lead in the first half, the Saints bounced back with a pair of second half goals to remain undefeated in conference play.

 

The Cardinals drew first blood when Allison Lentz's through ball was poked past the Saints keeper by Megan Starkey in the 14th minute. For the remainder of the first half the Saints attack put pressure on Anna Roman, forcing her to make 7 saves in the period. Roman would finish with 10 saves on the day.

 

Hannah Crum leveled the game with her 13th goal of the season for Aquinas in the 57th minute off of a free kick. It was Macy Hollingsworth who would score the game winner with less than two minutes remaining to secure the top seed for the Saints in the WHAC playoffs.

 

Concordia concluded the regular season by earning the 6th seed in the WHAC playoffs. They are now set to play the 3rd seed UNOH this Wednesday, November 3rd. Kick off will be at 2:00 pm in Lima, Ohio.
