Tischer and Starkey named to Second Team; Several other Cardinals honored

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their 2021 yearly awards and honors on Saturday evening following the Tournament Championship match. Several Concordia Cardinals were honored for their efforts both on and off the field this season. Sierra Tischer and Megan Starkey both highlighted the Second Team All-Conference awards 

 

Tischer, a senior from Waterford, MI., was a key defender on the backline of the Cardinal defense, which only allowed 1.06 goals per game. She started and was able to play in all 18 games for CUAA. 

 

Starkey, a junior from Macomb, MI., played in all 18 games for the Cardinals this season while starting 15 of them. Starkey was second on the team in both goals and points for CUAA with five goals and 11 points. 

 

Kamryn Gerecke, who was named to the All-Newcomer team, played in 13 games this season and started in 12 of those games. She, along with Tischer, was another key defender on the backline of the defense. 

 

Grace Dame was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

Also, on Saturday WHAC All-Academic teams were named which involves being a junior in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Nine Cardinals were named to the team including Amay Cisnewski, Grace Dame, Halle Kallsen, Allison Lentz, Samantha Putnam, Mackenzie Rahn, Kiera Savage, Isabel Stropich, Sierra Tischer.
