Women's Soccer blanks Judson 1-0

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia women's soccer hosted the Judson Eagles on Friday afternoon in a non-conference contest.  The Cardinals came in 4-1 overall while the Eagles entered 3-2.  After a scoreless first half, a goal by Hazel Wright in the second half clinched a 1-0 shutout victory for CUAA.

 

Hayley Jacobson played a complete game in goal for Concordia, making 6 saves in the shutout win.  The Cardinals started on the attack early with Kendra Lewis taking the first shot on goal.  Lewis added an early corner kick with a Kiera Savage shot getting blocked by the defense.  Hayley Jacobson made back-to-back saves as the game continued to remain scoreless.  Samantha Putnam created a corner kick opportunity late in the half, but the game was tied 0-0 at halftime.

Hayley Jacobson made at a critical save in the 64th minute, coming out of the net to grab the ball and prevent a Judson goal.  The Cardinals continued to attack and finally broke the shutout in the 78th minute.  Samantha Putnam lined up to take a free kick but tapped the ball to Hazel Wright who fired a powerful shot in the goal.   CUAA was able to maintain their shutout for the rest of the game and claimed the 1-0 victory.

 

Concordia will head on the road on Wednesday, September 22 when they travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene.  The game is scheduled to start at 4pm.
