(RV) Golden Eagles defeat Cardinals in WHAC road contest

(Grand Rapids, MI) – Concordia men's basketball traveled to Cornerstone on Wednesday night in WHAC play.  The Cardinals came in 4-6 overall and 2-3 in the WHAC while the Golden Eagles entered 7-4 overall and 4-2 in conference play.  Cornerstone jumped out to an early lead and despite several scoring runs the Cardinals fell 109-74.

 

Jaedyn Carter led Concordia with 20 points.  Anthony Condie had a team-high 6 rebounds and tied Bernard Kasanda with 10 points each.

 

Zackary Johnson drove for a layup to tie the game 2-2 early.  Bernard Kasanda had an early layup, but Cornerstone jumped out to an early 17-4 lead.  Colton Ritsema made a pair of free throws and Anthony Condie scored in the paint as the Cardinals kept fighting.

 

Thomas Hronis and Bernard Kasanda drained triples, but Cornerstone pulled ahead by more than 20 points.  Jaedyn Carter heated up with a pair of layups, a triple, and a free throw.  Matt Kohler had a late 3-pointer, but Cornerstone led 69-33 at halftime.

 

Jaedyn Carter made a layup for Concordia's first points in the 2nd half, beginning a 9-0 run.  Anthony Condie had a pair of triple and Devyn Jones made two layups, but the Cornerstone lead remained strong.

 

Bernard Kasanda and Jaedyn Carter hit 3-pointers as time wound down.  Concordia outscored Cornerstone 41-40 in the 2nd half, but the Golden Eagles came away with the 109-74 win.

 

Concordia will play their next game on Saturday, February 13 when they host Lawrence Tech at 3:00pm.
