Hronis and Johnson highlight Men's Basketball's WHAC Honors

(Ann Arbor, MI) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference announced their 2020-21 men's basketball awards Monday afternoon with several Cardinals being honored for their success on and off the court. Thomas Hronis and Zackary Johnson highlighted the Cardinals' accolades as Hronis was named Second Team All-Conference and Johnson was named to the All-Freshman Team.

 

Hronis had a strong second year with the Cardinals as he led the team and was 6th in the WHAC in points with 15.1 per game. The sharpshooter made 3.5 three-pointers per game which led the conference and was 8th in the NAIA. Hronis shot 38.2% from behind the arc and tacked on 1.2 assists per game.

 

Despite being a sophomore academically, Zackary Johnson competed in his first season for the Cardinals in 2020-21 and played his way on to the WHAC All-Freshmen team. Johnson was second on the team in points throughout his debut season with 11.4 per game. Johnson brought down 2.6 boards per game and averaged 1.4 assists as well.

 

Three different Cardinals were named to the WHAC All-Academic Team for their work in the classroom and maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Matt Lockhart, Erik Mroczek, and Colton Ritsema were all named to the WHAC All-Academic Team.

 

Colton Ritsema was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for his commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
