(Ann Arbor, MI) After their completion of the regular season, the Concordia men's basketball program will advance to the WHAC Conference Tournament for the first time in the last three seasons. The Cardinals finished with a record of 7-10, securing the #6 seed and are set to travel to #3 Cornerstone this Thursday.

About the Golden Eagles
Cornerstone entered the 2020 WHAC Tournament as the fifth seed and upset #4 Lourdes and #1 Indiana Tech on their way to the WHAC Championship where they would fall to Madonna, 71-79. Starting at 12th in the NAIA preseason poll in 2019-20, the Golden Eagles fell out of the top 25 last season and received votes during the current 2020-21 season.
While they may no longer be receiving votes, Cornerstone posted an impressive 2020-21 season. In the fall they got off to a 3-1 start, only dropping a game to then third ranked Indiana Wesleyan. They finished WHAC play with a 9-3 record, their losses coming to fellow top four teams Madonna, Indiana Tech, and Rochester.
Five players average near double digits for the Golden Eagles in Christian Rodriguez (14.5), Cory Ainsworth (14.2), Riley Costen (12.6), Kyle Hayes (10.5), and Tyler Baker (9.5). Kim Elders is in his 28th season as Cornerstone's head coach.

In the Cardinals' first and only meeting with the Golden Eagles this season, Cornerstone came away with a 35-point win at home. Jaedyn Carter was Concordia's main source of offense, with a career high 20 points. The Golden Eagles had four players reach double digits, with Riley Costen leading the team with 20. While the Cards outscored Cornerstone in the second half, Concordia's slow start proved to be insurmountable as they would go on to suffer their largest defeat of the season.
