Bowling competes at Glenn Carlson Invitational

(Las Vegas, NV) The Men's and Women's Bowling teams took to Las Vegas this past weekend to participate in the Glenn Carlson Invitational. The event featured over 300 men's bowlers and close to 200 on the women's side from all across the country. The first portion of the invitational consisted of 9 games, with the top 16 men's and top 8 women's teams advancing to a Baker Tournament. The Men's Team finished in 11th place in the initial stage, and fell to Emmanuel in the first round of the tournament. The Women's Team landed in 22nd place, missing out on the tournament.

 

 

Men's Recap

Two Cardinals landed inside of the top 20 at the Glenn Carlson Invitational. Kyle Lewis finished in 15th after averaging a 209.6 throughout his nine games. Korey Reichard ended the event in 19th place with a 205.4 average through nine games. Reichard also rolled the Cardinals' best score of the day with a 290 in game 5.

 

Brenden Gossman had the third highest finish for Concordia with a 192.7 average over all nine games. Izaac Goergen was not far behind Gossman with a 189 average, landing them both in the top 65 bowlers.

 

Patrick Good Jr. bowled in 8 games for the Cardinals and finished with a 174.8 average. Nicholas Clauson bowled a 142 in his lone game of the event.

 

The Cardinals finished in 11th place, good enough to make the Baker tournament on day two of the invitational. Concordia squared off against Emmanuel in a best of five baker series. The Cardinals fell 1-3 to Emmanuel, knocking them out of the tournament.

 

Alec Dudley from St. Francis (IL) won the individual portion of the event with a 229.8 average. While Wichita State won the first portion of the event, it was ultimately Pikeville who won the Baker finals.

 

 

Women's Recap

Emilee Hughes put up the Cardinals' top performance at the event as she averaged 179.22 pins through all nine games. She also rolled a 222 in game four, the highest Concordia score at the event.

 

Gabriella VanHorn bowled in each of the 9 games for the Cardinals and averaged a 169.89 also landing her in the top 100 bowlers.

 

Shannon Geiger competed in 7 games and averaged a 157.71, while Isabell Cooley bowled 6 games and knocked down 156.17 pins per game.

 

Amanda Fisher averaged a score of 160.6 throughout her 5 games bowled and Arielle Oakley had a 143 in 4 games. Alyvia Hock put up a 167 average in her 3 games bowled for Concordia.

 

William Penn's Gabriella Evans took first place in the individual potion of the event with a nine-game average of 212.44. Wichita State earned the top see after winning the first stage, but it was Tennessee Southern who won the Baker Finals in the end.

The Cardinals will remain in Las Vegas for the Collegiate Shootout this Monday and Tuesday.
