Men's Bowling heads to WHAC Championships this weekend

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals men's bowling team is ready for the final Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match of the 2021-22 season as they are set for the WHAC Championship in Fort Wayne, IN on Saturday.

About the Cardinals

After the four WHAC Jamborees, this season the Cardinals sit in third place with 46 points while also averaging 6968.5 pins per Jamboree. Concordia has seen consistency in the WHAC events this season with three third-place finishes and one-fourth place. 

 

Leading the Cardinal bowlers are Brenden Gossman, who has bowled in all 16 games, with 3298 pins for a 206.13 average, Korey Reichard, with 15 games and 2888 pins for a 192.53 average, Kyle Lewis, with 13 games and 2620 pins for a 201.54 average.

 

Other bowlers for the Cardinals are Izzac Goergen as he has bowled in 11 games, knocking down 2055 pins and a 186.82 average, Jeffery Lizewski bowling in 8 games with 1427 pins recorded a 183.88 average, Alexander Bumpus (1152 pins, 6 games), Logan Teubert (827, 4), Nicholas Clauson (742, 4) and Patrick Good Jr. (510, 3).

 

WHAC Preview

Indiana Tech has taken first at each of the WHAC Jamborees that have taken place as they lead the conference with 7492 pins per event earning 80 points. Lawrence Tech has taken second at each event this season with a 7184 pin average with 60 points. Following Concordia is Aquinas (40 points), Madonna (30), Lourdes (26), Siena Heights (18), Cornerstone (11), UM-Dearborn (8), and Cleary (5).

 

Leading the Conference individually is Marcus McClain from Indiana Tech as he has knocked down a total of 3459 pins in the 16 games bowled with an average of 216.19. Rounding out the top five is Gossman, Cayleb Carey from Lourdes (3231 pins), Abrey Thomas from Aquinas (3207), and Noah Campbell from Madonna (3148).

 

WHAC History

Indiana Tech won the most recent WHAC Championship last season after topping Concordia in bracket play by a score of 3-0. While the Cardinals have not won the WHAC Tournament, they were the regular season champions back in the 2016 season.
