Men's Lacrosse wins Top-10 clash over #7 Aquinas

(Grand Rapids, MI) - #6 Concordia men's lacrosse traveled to #7 Aquinas on Wednesday afternoon for a WHAC contest. The Cardinals pulled away with nine goals in the second quarter and surged to a 17-7 victory.

 

Sam Bowling played a complete game in net with 12 saves. Sam Saje had a team-high 12 ground balls and went 16-24 on faceoffs.

Ivan Progar opened scoring with an unassisted goal. The teams continued to trade goals with Andrew Simmons firing a shot in net off an assist from Hunter McCarty. Cooper Regimbal tallied and Hunter McCarty scored with Travis Wright assisting. The game was tied 4-4 after the first quarter.

Travis Wright scored on the powerplay to put the Cardinals in front to start a dominating 9-0 run in the second quarter. Spencer Guppy added a goal and both Ivan Progar and Andrew Simmons scored their second goals. Hunter McCarty netted his second marker when he powered through an Aquinas defender and slipped the ball in the net. Travis Wright finished his hat trick, Cooper Regimbal scored his second goal, and Hunter McCarty capped the quarter by earning his hat trick. CUAA led 13-4 at halftime.

 

Hunter McCarty notched his fourth goal to start the third quarter. Ivan Progar finished his hat trick and Evan Stuart converted on the power play. The Cardinals held a 16-5 lead after the third quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Hunter McCarty scored his team-leading fifth goal of the contest. The Cardinal defense held strong and secured a 17-7 win.

 

Concordia will host rival (RV) Madonna this Saturday April 6th at 3pm.
