Softball secures sweep of Cleary on Senior Day
(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia softball hosted Cleary on Sunday afternoon as the team celebrated Senior Day.  The Cardinals honored their four senior members including Cassidy Kane, Jada Stephenson, Sarah Tyrrell and Shannon McAlinden.  CUAA took game one 5-1 and completed the sweep with a 5-4 game two victory on a Madison Poe walk-off home run.   
 
GAME 1 – CUAA 5, Cleary 1  
Cassidy Kane pitched a complete game, notching 2 strikeouts.  Kane helped her own cause with a 2-run homer in the first inning.  Shannon McAlinden tacked on a solo home run of her own to extend the lead. 
Shannon McAlinden smashed a 2-run homer in the third inning.  Cleary broke the shutout with a run in the sixth inning, but the Cardinal defense held on to secure the 5-1 win.  
 
GAME 2 – CUAA 5, Cleary 4 
Emilee Underwood was the starting pitcher for game two, going 1.2 innings with 2 strikeouts.  Cleary took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second inning.  Hannah Duchene came in to pitch starting in the second inning, throwing 1.2 innings with 1 strikeout.  Faith Crampton countered in the bottom half with an RBI double scoring Maddy Grueter.   
Katie Tobias tied the game with a solo home run in the third inning.  Cleary retook the lead with a run in the fourth inning.  Paige Anderson pitched the final 3.2 innings with 3 strikeouts.  
Cassidy Kane crushed a 2-run homer in the sixth inning to give the Cardinals a 4-3 lead.  Cleary responded with a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game.   
Madison Poe would play the hero in the bottom of the seventh inning by lining a solo home run on the first pitch she faced to secure the walk-off win.   
 
Concordia will host Grace Christian this Wednesday, April 24th, for a doubleheader starting at 3pm.
