Women's Hockey falls in close matchup to #7 Warriors

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia women's hockey welcomed the #7 Indiana Tech Warriors to town for another matchup Saturday evening. The Cardinals defense held strong, but they eventually fell 3-0 to the highly ranked Warriors.

Rose Lennon played 58:47 in net with 32 saves on 34 shots.  The first period was filled with some incredible defense from the Cardinals, as the Warriors came out of the gate with 16 shots on goal in the first period. Lennon was able to stop all 16 of them!

The Warriors came out of the locker room and found the back of the net within twenty seconds of the second period. The Cardinals did not back down, and responded by holding their offense scoreless heading into the third period only down 1-0.

Both teams continued to hold strong defensively in the third period.  It was not until a power play goal in the last few minutes off the stick of Arina Jusczak put the Warriors up 2-0. The Cardinals went with the empty net to try to find the back of the net, but instead a long shot across the ice from the Warriors on the empty net sealed the game at 3-0.

Concordia will return home this Thursday, January 16th, to host the University of Massachusetts at 9:00PM!
