(Hudsonville, MI) Concordia Women's Hockey took to the road Saturday afternoon for a contest against Grand Valley State. The Cardinals took a 3-1 lead through the first two periods, but the Lakers rallied back with four third period goals to win 5-3 in the end.
Rose Lennon started in between the pipes for Concordia and recorded 24 saves throughout the game.
The Cardinals got on the board first when Emma Shore scored the lone goal of the first period, helped by Mallory Collins and Julie McLaughlin.
Lauren Benoit doubled the Concordia lead on a power play goal assisted by Grace Dodgson 13 minutes into the second period. Grand Valley cut into the lead by a goal, but then Emma Shore scored her second of the night, this time on a power play from Benoit, to make it 3-1 in favor of the Cardinals.
Grand Valley's Abbey Mccallion scored less than a minute into the third period, and then evened the game up five minutes later. The Lakers then closed out the game with a pair of power play goals to propel them to a 5-3 win over Concordia.
The Cardinals will close out their regular season with a series against Davenport, starting on the road on Friday, February 14th. Puck drop is set for 8:30 PM at the Patterson Ice Center in Grand Rapids.
