(Canton, MI) - Concordia women's hockey started a weekend series against Grand Valley State with a home contest on Friday night. The Cardinals played a solid game and secured a 2-1 victory.
Rose Lennon played a complete game in net with 41 saves. The Cardinals got on the board first when Skylar Croft scored with assists from Makayla Steinmetz and Sara Kaczmarek. CUAA led 1-0 after the first period.
In the second period the Cardinals extended their lead with a goal by Emma Shore assisted by Grace Dodgson and Sydney Schuyler. Rose Lennon made a critical save on a breakaway late in the period. CUAA held a 2-0 lead heading into the second intermission.
Grand Valley State broke the shutout with a powerplay goal late in the third period. However, the Cardinal defense held strong and secured a 2-1 victory.
CUAA will travel to Grand Valley State tomorrow, February 1st, for a 4:30pm game.
