Golchuk honored by WHAC and NCCAA as Offensive Player of the Week

(Ann Arbor, Mich.) The Wolverine Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced their weekly player of the week recipients on Monday afternoon. Samantha Golchuk has been named the WHAC Offensive Player of the Week after recording three goals and an assist in the team's 10-0 victory of Rochester University on Saturday afternoon.

 

Golchuk made her presence known early in the match contributing to for the first four goals for the Cardinals. Golchuk was credited an assist on Kendra Lewis' goal to put the Cardinals on the board five minutes into the game.   Nine minutes later Golchuk recorded her first goal of the game on an assist from Kendra Lewis. The duo connected again four minutes later making it 3-0 for the Cardinals. It only took another minute for Golchk to score her third goal on a breakaway. This was Golchuk's fourth career hat-trick.

 

Golchuk's performance led to a dominating 10-0 win for the Cardinals as eight players recorded a goal. The hat-trick also gave Golchuk 40 career goals. Golchuk remains in second all-time as she now sits 17 goals behind Julia Palushaj's all-time record of 57.

 

In addition to hear WHAC honor, Golchuk was also named the NCCAA D1 Women's Soccer Offensive Player Student-Athlete of the Week. Golchuk is the first Cardinal to receive WHAC and NCCAA honors this year. It marks the fourth time in her career that she has received this recognition from the NCCAA and the third time from the WHAC.

 

The women's soccer team will continue their fall season on Saturday, October 10th when they travel to Cornerstone University. The match is scheduled to start at 7pm.
