NCCAA PREVIEW: Women's Track and Field ready to compete at NCCAA Championships

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Concordia Cardinals Women's Track and Field teams head to Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina for the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Track & Field Championships this Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. 

 

This week the Cardinals will be sending 11 different athletes to the National Championships as they will compete in 11 different events. Three athletes will compete in four different field events, with the remaining covering relays and the 100-meter, 200-meter, 100-meter hurdles, and 400-meter hurdles.

 

Lena Korte will be competing in the second-most events this week with three different field events. She will compete in the Hammer Throw, Javelin Throw, and the Shot Put. In the Shot Put she has the top mark in the NCCAA with a toss of 13.89 meters at the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships last weekend. In the Javelin, she has the third-best throw which she made at the WHAC Championships as well with a throw of 37.16 meters. In the discus event, she is 18th in the NCCAA with a throw of 39.17 meters. 

 

With the second-best throw in the NCCAA, Julia Hirt will compete in the Discus event. She earned that spot with a throw of 41.95 meters at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic. 

 

Morgan Jenkins will be competing in the Hammer Throw. She has the 14th-best throw in the NCCAA with a mark of 40.46 meters, which she earned at the Mike Becraft Invitational. 

 

Hope Renfer will be competing in one individual race and two relays. Her individual race will be the 100-meter dash. She earned a qualifying mark last week at the WHAC Championships with a time of 13.20 seconds. She will also run in the 4x400 and the 4x100 relays. 

 

Emily Belinsky will participate in five different events with the 200-meter, 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter hurdles, 4x100, and 4x400. Belinsky earned a qualifying time in the 200-meter race with a time of 27.07 seconds. She recorded the 10th-best time in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.31 seconds. Her 400-meter hurdles time of 1:09.32 is sitting at 7th-best in the NCCAA. 

 

The Cardinals will compete in the 4x100, 4x400, and 4x800 meter races. 

 

The 4x100 relay team consists of Chloe Evans, Lily Kueber, Renfer, and Belinsky. This team ran a time of 52.70 seconds at the WHAC Championships. 

 

The 4x400 team will see Chloe Gunter, Evans, Renfer, and Belinsky run. With a time of 4:23.85, they sit at ninth-best in the NCCAA. 

 

The 4x800 team will see Allison Doerr, Mar Salem, Amanda Fogo, and Gunter. This team recently ran a time 11:07.21 at the WHAC Championships last weekend.
