(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia men's basketball hosted St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Tuesday night for a non-conference game. The Cardinals battled with the Pomeroys throughout but fell 73-60.
Ray Washington-Battle led the team with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Colby Chapman came in second with 13 points.
Ray Washington-Battle weaved through the defense for a layup to open scoring. Washington-Battle added a jumpshot and Wyatt Zepp added a triple from the corner. Colby Chapman drained two free throws and had a 3-pointer as the Cardinals trailed 16-12 at the midway point of the half.
The offense continued to flow through both Ray Washington-Battle and Colby Chapman. Mark DeVries converted inside and Ray Washington-Battle added an "and-1" in the final minutes. CUAA trailed 33-27 at halftime.
Colby Chapman was fouled shooting a 3-pointer and drained all three free throws to start the second half. The Pomeroys answered with a 12-0 run until Matt Blanton converted a layup inside. Colby Chapman made a jumpshot and Mason Canfield knocked down a triple. CUAA trailed 53-44 at the midway point of the second half.
Ray Washington-Battle drove for a layup and Mark DeVries made two free throws. Jason Jergens knocked down a 3-pointer as the Cardinals looked to mount a comeback. Luke Brohl made a late jumpshot and Mark DeVries scored inside, but CUAA fell 73-60 as time expired.
Concordia will travel to Gannon Gymnasium in Lansing, Michigan to face Cleary University this Saturday, December 7th at 7:30pm for their next game.
