(Sylvania, OH) - Concordia men's basketball went on the road to face Lourdes on Wednesday night in a WHAC matchup. The Cardinals battled to erase an early deficit and pulled closer, but the Grey Wolves maintained their lead for a 108-70 win.
Ray Washington-Battle led the team with 24 points. Colby Chapman finished second with 11 points. Mark DeVries had a team-best four rebounds.
Ray Washington-Battle stopped an 11-0 Lourdes run with a layup and went on to score the first nine Cardinal points. Wyatt Zepp hit a triple from the corner and Colby Chapman added a pair of free throws. Another 3-pointer from Wyatt Zepp gave the Cardinals a spark despite trailing 28-17 at the midway point of the first half.
Colby Chapman made a layup and Ray Washington-Battle continued to make quick drives with two more baskets. Mark DeVries knocked down a triple and Mason Canfield drained two free throws. Ray Washington-Battle continued to lead the offense with CUAA trailing 52-40 at halftime.
Ray Washington-Battle made a jumpshot to start the second half. Mason Canfield and Jason Jergens hit triples as the Cardinals still looked to keep pace. Mark DeVries scored inside and then threw down a dunk to rally the CUAA bench. CUAA faced a 72-52 deficit midway through the second half.
Mason Canfield made a layup and Luke Brohl added a basket. Hunter Yeakey, Luke Brohl, and Trevor Viau all made 3-pointers down the stretch. However, CUAA fell by a final score of 108-70.
Concordia will return home this Friday, December 20th, to host Lambton at 3pm.
