(Ann Arbor, MI) - CUAA men's basketball faced off against Concordia Nebraska in the championship game of the Concordia Invitational Tournament on Saturday night. The Cardinals battled hard as they looked to feed off the excitement of their fans. However, the Bulldogs pulled away and claimed an 88-45 win.
Colby Chapman led the team with 12 points. Matt Blanton finished second with eight points. Jason Jergens was named to the All-Tournament team and had six points.
Mason Canfield made a jumper to end a 6-0 Bulldog run. Colby Chapman knocked down a triple and Ray Washington-Battle scored with two quick drives to the basket. Jason Jergens hit a 3-pointer and Matt Blanton drained two free throws. CUAA trailed 21-14 at the midway point of the first half.
The Bulldogs responded with a 13-0 run until Jason Jergens made a triple. Colby Chapman drained four free throws and Ray Washington-Battle had a layup down the stretch. CUAA faced a 47-23 deficit at halftime.
Matt Blanton had a pair of jumpshots early in the second half. Colby Chapman made a triple and a layup and Wyatt Zepp knocked down a 3-pointer. CUAA trailed 62-35 midway through the second half.
Luke Brohl and Gabe Sweat made baskets to get on the scoresheet. Noah Schirin scored a layup and Francis Senter knocked down a jumper. CUAA fell 88-45 as time expired.
CUAA will return to WHAC play this Wednesday, January 29th, when they travel to UM-Dearborn at 7:30pm.
