(Rochester, MI) - Concordia men's basketball continued WHAC play with a road match at Rochester Christian. The Cardinals fell behind early and were unable to come back resulting in a 79-44 loss.
Ray Washington-Battle led the team with 18 points. Jack Olis finished second with nine points along with a team-high seven rebounds.
Jack Olis had the first Cardinal basket with a 3-pointer. Jason Jergens nailed a triple and Ray Washington-Battle scored with a drive to the basket to put CUAA up 8-4. Rochester Christian used an 18-0 run to take the lead. Ray Washington-Battle had a layup to end the run but CUAA trailed 22-10 at the midway point of the first half.
Ray Washington-Battle continued to pace the offense with tough baskets and Mark DeVries used a post move to score inside. Jack Olis drained two triples down the stretch but CUAA faced a 44-24 deficit at halftime.
Ray Washington-Battle made an offensive putback to start the second half. Colby Chapman knocked down two 3-pointers as the Cardinals hoped to cut into the deficit. Mason Canfield made a layup but CUAA trailed 67-38 at the midway point of the second half.
Mark DeVries and Matt Blanton had baskets down the stretch for the Cardinals. The team was able to get their bench players some key playing time late in the game. However, CUAA fell by a final score of 79-44.
Concordia will travel to Cornerstone this Wednesday, January 15, for a 7:30pm game.
