Men's Basketball falls to Siena Heights

(Adrian, MI) - CUAA men's basketball traveled to rival Siena Heights on Wednesday night for a WHAC game.  The Cardinals looked to bring home a win against their rival but the Saints claimed a 58-48 win. 

 

Colby Chapman led the team with 16 points.  Ray Washington-Battle game in second with 15 points.  Mason Canfield scored with nine points.  Mark DeVries had a team-high of 11 rebounds. 

 

Ray Washington-Battle drove for a layup to open scoring.  Mark DeVries scored inside and Washington-Battle added a layup and a free throw.  Colby Chapman knocked down a 3-pointer and Mason Canfield drove for a layup.  A basket from Colby Chapman tied the game 14-14 at the 10:17 mark. 

 

Colby Chapman scored the next seven Cardinal points with two triples, including an "and-1".  However, Siena Heights rallied with an 11-0 run to lead by double digits.  Ray Washington-Battle made a late basket and CUAA trailed 35-24 at halftime.  

 

Mason Canfield knocked down a triple early in the second half.  Jack Olis got on the scoresheet with a jumper and Mark DeVries helped out defensively with two blocks.  Mason Canfield drove for a layup and CUAA faced a 46-34 deficit at the midway point of the second half. 

 

Mason Canfield, Mark DeVries and Ray Washington-Battle drove for layups to lead a comeback effort.   

Colby Chapman hit a jumper to pull the team closer before the Saints began to rally again.  Ray Washington-Battle had two late baskets and Mark DeVries made an offensive putback.  However, CUAA fell by a final score of 58-48. 

 

CUAA will travel to University of Northwestern Ohio this Friday, February 14th, at 7:30pm.
