Men's Basketball drops home contest against UNOH

(Ann Arbor, MI) - Concordia men's basketball held a home contest against UNOH on Saturday afternoon in WHAC play.  The Cardinals held the lead for most of the first half, but the Racers rallied for a 74-57 win. 

 

Ray Washington-Battle led the team with 17 points and tied Matt Blanton with a team-high seven rebounds.  Colby Chapman, Jason Jergens, and Mark DeVries all tied for second with nine points apiece.  

 

 

Ray Washington-Battle opened scoring with a pair of layups.  Mark DeVries converted inside and Jason Jergens drained a 3-pointer.  Wyatt Zepp made a triple and a layup to put CUAA ahead 14-11 at the midway point of the first half.   

 

Jason Jergens nailed a 3-pointer and Ray Washington-Battle continued to attack the hoop with three straight baskets.  Colby Chapman drained two free throws, but momentum began to shift to UNOH.  The Racers held a 36-26 lead at halftime. 

 

Mark DeVries finished an "and-1" early in the second half.  Jason Jergens knocked down his third triple of the game as the Cardinals looked to rally.  Mark DeVries scored inside and Colby Chapman nailed a 3-pointer.  Another spinning layup went in from Mark DeVries and CUAA trailed 54-39 at the midway point of the second half. 

 

Colby Chapman hit a jumpshot and Ray Washington-Battle drove for a basket.  Matt Blanton got on the scoresheet with a layup and Hunter Yeakey made a free throw.  In the final minute, Luke Brohl drained a 3-pointer for the Cardinals.  However, UNOH claimed the 74-57 win as time expired. 

 

Concordia will travel to Lourdes this Wednesday, December 18th, for a 7:30pm game.
