Racers defeat Cardinals 2-0 in WHAC Quarterfinals

The men's soccer team participated in the WHAC quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon. After earning the #7 seed in the final regular season standings, the Cardinals were scheduled to #2 and nationally ranked No. 8 University of Northwestern Ohio. The Cardinals looked to avenge their 4-0 loss to the Racers earlier in the season. The Cardinals put up a fight but eventually fell, 2-0 ending their historic 2021 season.

The Cardinals put pressure on the Racers with an early shot on goal by Bretty Kuhlman at the 7:07 mark. Four minutes later, the Racers struck first. Devin Morgan scored on a corner kick to give the Racers an early 1-0 lead, 11:20.

Ryan Webb started in goal for the Cardinals and made four saves throughout the latter part of the first half to keep the Cardinals in striking distance. The game remained 1-0 at halftime.

Seven minutes into the second half, the Racers extended their lead with a goal. Adam Hanson found the back of the net on a bicycle kick on an assist from Devin Morgan.

Nyle Ellis, Tanguy Flachez, and Christian Margilaj attempted shots on goal in the second half but could not capitalize.

The Racers held on for the 2-0 win bringing the Cardinals 2020-21 season to an end.
