Reichel Named NCCAA Pitcher Student-Athlete of the Week

(Greenville, SC) – The National Christian College Athletic Association announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and Lauren Reichel was named softball's division one pitcher student-athlete of the week. Reichel's recognition comes off of the Cardinals first games of the season this past weekend in Brighton.

The Cardinals ace dealt a nearly flawless game in Concordia's first game of the season against Clarke. She gave up 2 hits and 1 earned run in all 5 innings of work while punching out 7 Pride batters in the Cardinals dominating 9-1 win over Clarke.

Reichel then took the hill for the second time in two days in a marquee matchup against nationally ranked Saint Xavier. Lauren tallied 4 more strikeouts and held the Cougars to just 2 hits going into the 7th inning until the Cougars rallied for a two-run homerun with two outs. Reichel also added one hit, one RBI, and one run scored in the Cardinals opening weekend of 2021.

Reichel is the first softball player to receive player of the week honors from the NCCAA this season.

The Cardinals will be back in action this weekend as they head just north of the Windy City to Des Plains, Illinois, for a three game series against the Lakers from Roosevelt.
