NCCAA RELEASE

(Greenville, SC) – The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their weekly awards on Monday afternoon and Lauren Reichel was named softball's division one pitcher student-athlete of the week for the second week in a row. Reichel's recognition comes off of the Cardinals second weekend of the season this past Saturday in Rosemont, Illinois.

Lauren Reichel tossed a complete game for the Cardinals in game one, tallying a career high 10 strikeouts. The Cardinal ace limited the Lakers to five baserunners throughout the game, and only gave up one earned run in the first inning. Reichel earned her second win of the season as Concordia went on to beat the Lakers, 4-2. The junior also came on in relief in the third and final game of the day, striking out another batter.

Reichel is the only softball player to receive player of the week honors from the NCCAA so far this season, earning the first two awards given out.

The Cardinals weekend series against Brescia has been cancelled due to cold temperatues. The Cardinals are looking at scheduling options for the coming weeks with their next series targeted for Feb. 27th against Asbury.
