Week 1 Preview: Football opens season at NCAA Division II Kentucky Wesleyan

Concordia football will officially begin the 2019 season this Saturday when the team travels to Kentucky Wesleyan. The Cardinals enter the game with the #6 ranking in the NAIA Coaches Poll, the highest preseason mark in school history. Kentucky Wesleyan, a member of the NCAA's Division II, finished with a 3-7 record last year. This marks the third straight year that CUAA has opened their season against a Division II opponent.

Cardinals ranked #6 in NAIA Coaches Poll

Concordia received the #6 rank in the NAIA Preseason Coaches Poll. This marks the highest preseason rank in program history. Among MSFA Mid-East teams, only Saint Francis (Ind.) outranked the Cardinals at #3 overall. Marian received the #7 rank and rival Siena Heights received votes in the poll. MSFA Mid-West leader Saint Xavier checked in at #5 while Olivet Nazarene is receiving votes.
