(Kansas City, MO) The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2019 NAIA Football All-America teams on Thursday afternoon and left tackle junior Donovan Corlew (JR/Cleveland, OH) was named to the honorable mention team after receiving the same honor last season.
Donovan Corlew has earned the respect and attention of opposing teams and defensive coordinators since making an immediate impact on the Cardinals offensive. Corlew has consistently made his presence known since day one, earning 2nd team MSFA honors freshman year and 1st team honors his sophomore and junior seasons. This is the second consecutive season that the tackle has been given All-American Honorable Mention accolades.
Not only has Corlew effectively protected the back-side of Cardinal quarterbacks, he has also blazed the way for the Cardinals running game. The Cardinals finished third in total offense among the competitive Mid-State Football Association (MSFA) Mideast Division. The Cardinals were efficient averaging 373.7 yards per game while totaling 4111 rushing yards and 2161 passing yards throughout the season.
The individual success for Corlew was instrumental in leading the Cardinals to a third straight appearance in the NAIA Football Championship Series. The Cardinals were also recognized in every NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 poll with the team receiving the highest ranking of 4th.
Now with his second Honorable Mention recognition, Corlew joins Joe Conner (2018 and 2019, 1st Team) and Takari Johnson (2014, 1st Team) as the only other Cardinals to be named to the NAIA All-America teams.
