Several Cardinals receive All-NCCAA honors

2019 NCCAA Football Awards

(Greenville, SC) Last week the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their annual football awards with eight Cardinals earning recognition. Since renewing their membership in 2017, Concordia has been one of the most awarded teams receiving eight honors this season. Five Cardinals were named to the All-NCCAA First Team, with three making the second team.

Roderick Dailey (SR/Detroit, MI) was named to the 2019 First Team after rewriting much of the Cardinal record books. Dailey was a first teamer in 2018 and holds sole possession of career receptions (178) and receiving yards (2,323) in program history.

Junior offensive tackle Donovan Corlew (JR/Cleveland, OH) was also named to the All-NCCAA First Team for a second consecutive year for the Cardinals. Corlew anchored an offensive line that was second in the NCCAA and 21st in the NAIA in total rushing offense with 1,950 yards.

Defensive end Alex Hinojosa (JR/Allen Park, MI) earned First Team recognition for his dominant 2019 performance, earning NCCAA player of the week in the second week of the season. Hinojosa was tied for second in the NCCAA with 8.5 sacks on the year.

Senior captain Reggie Thompson (SR/Chicago, IL) took home First Team honors after leading Concordia in tackles. His 85 tackles were tied for 6th in the NCCAA.

The fifth Cardinal to make the All-NCCAA First Team is junior safety Ryan Fish (JR/Allen Park, MI). This is Fish's second consecutive appearance on the First team after leading the team and NCCAA in interceptions with 5 picks.

Three Cardinals received All-NCCAA Second team honors this season in offensive lineman Steven Vallot (JR/Abbeville, LA), kicker Wyatt Mast (JR/Delton, MI), and kick returner Omar Sinclair (SO/Norcross, GA). Vallot was a key cog to the interior of the offensive line that led Concordia's prolific rushing attack. Mast made 8 of his 15 field goals on the year, with a long of 47. Sinclair was third in the NCCAA in yards per return with 24.8 and one return touchdown.
