11 Cardinals receive MSFA Mideast honors

The Cardinal football program and many of its individual players were recognized for their outstanding efforts during the 2019 season.The Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast League announced their all-league selections on Thursday afternoon and a total of 11 awards were given to the Cardinals. Five Cardinals were placed on 1st Team, three on 2nd Team awards, and three on Honorable Mention.

Four Cardinals earned first team all-league honors at five positions as Omar Sinclair (SO/Norcross, GA) was name to the first team for running back and returner. Other Cardinals earning honors included Roderick Dailey (SR/Detroit, MI) (WR), Donovan Corlew (JR/Cleveland, OH) (OL), and Alex Hinojosa (JR/Allen Park, MI) (DL). Last year the Cardinals placed six on the first team with Sinclair (Returner), Dailey, and Corlew repeating first team honors.

The Cardinals placed three individuals on the 2nd Team Steven Vallot (JR/Abbeville, LA) (OL), Reggie Thompson (SR/Chicago, IL) (LB), and Wyatt Mast (JR/Delton, MI) (K) all earning awards. Thompson and Mast are first timers for the award with Vallot earning first team in 2018.

Rounding out the Cardinals MSFA honors include seniors Clay Coltson (SR/Hastings, MI) (WR), Cooper O'Gara (SR/Cincinnati, OH) (DL), and Prince Alex AyoOla (SR/Dearborn, MI) (DB). All three are first time awardees.

The Cardinals record-breaking season will continue on Saturday in the NAIA Football Championship Series First Round. The #4 Grand View Vikings will host the #12 Cardinals for their third consecutive year in the playoffs. Kickoff will be on Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00 pm EST.
