(Indianapolis, IN) – The Concordia Cardinal Men's Bowling team competed at the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic over the weekend which is the biggest Tier 1 event of the regular season. The event featured five team games on Saturday followed by 15 baker games on Sunday with the top-8 teams making it to bracket play.
Following day 1, the Cardinals sat in 9th place and were able to move all the way up to fifth following the baker games with a score of 8,199. In bracket play, the Cardinals squared off against the fourth-seeded Muskingum University and fell in the best-of-5 series, 2-0.
This was the first time the Cardinals advanced to bracket play at the Hoosier Classic in program history.
CUAA RESULTS
Four Cardinals bowled in all five games for CUAA as they were led by Connor Rogus who finished in 23rd place with a total score of 1,078 pins and scored a high game of 245. Next up was David Schaberg and Conner Lackey who totaled 1,068 and 1,040 pins respectively and recorded high games of 287 and 227 respectively. Hunter Fletcher was the final CUAA bowler to bowl all five games with a score of 993 and a 207 high game.
Three other Cardinal bowlers combined for the final five games with Kaden Salts and Kenji London each bowling two and Nicholas Schaberg bowling one game. Salts and London totaled 440 and 353 pins respectively with high games of 255 and 184 respectively while Schaberg bowled a 198.
TOURNAMENT RESULTS
Webber International University was in the top spot during the qualification rounds as they totaled 8,709 pins. They would fall in the first round of bracket play to Savannah College of Art and Design-Savannah in the first round as SCAD would go on to pull off two more upsets to be crowned the tournament champions.
Keegan Alexander from Mount Mercy University was in the top individual spot after the five team games as he scored 1,193 pins.
