(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic-Conference (WHAC) announced their yearly awards for Men's Bowling on Wednesday afternoon and several Concordia Cardinals earned postseason honors.
Highlighting the awards was Connor Rogus who earned WHAC Bowler of the Year. Rogus is the second Cardinal to win this honor as he follows Zach Hazel who won the award back in the 2016-2017 season.
FIRST TEAM | BOWLER OF THE YEAR
Connor Rogus | Sophomore | Macomb, Michigan
Rogus led the WHAC this season at the four Jamborees as he knocked down a total of 2,628 pins and averaged 219 pins per game throughout the 12 games bowled. At the four Jamborees this year Rogus has placed 19th, 1st, 5th, and 11th respectively. Overall this season Rogus has accumulated 13,123 total pins for an average of 211.66.
SECOND TEAM
David Schaberg | Junior | Holt, Michigan
Schaberg continued his strong WHAC play throughout this season once again as this is the third straight year Schaberg has been named to the WHAC Second Team. Among qualified bowlers, Schaberg is eighth in the WHAC in average this season with a pin fall of 1,793 while holding an average of 199.22.
CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER
David Smalls was recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for his commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.
WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
The WHAC announced their All-Academic teams, which involve being a sophomore in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. The five Cardinals honored were Hunter Fletcher, Caleb Gard, Brandon Hiestand, Connor Rogus, and David Smalls.
