Men's Bowling places 5th at ITC Sectionals; Conner Lackey advances to ISC Nationals

(Smyrna, TN) - The Concordia Cardinals Men's Bowling team headed down to the Intercollegiate Singles and Team Championship (ISC and ITC) Sectionals over the weekend in Smyrna, Tennessee. The event featured the Singles competition with individuals bowling six games each with the top five bowlers making it onto Nationals. The team competition saw 32 baker games bowled on Saturday and 32 on Sunday. 

 

The Cardinals saw solid success as they were able to average 209 pins per game throughout the individual contest and saw them place 5th averaging 201 pins per game in the team section.

 

INDIVIDUAL RESULTS

Conner Lackey led the group of Cardinals as he qualified for the ISC Nationals after placing third on Friday. Lackey tallied a score of 1413 pins after averaging 235 pins per game. Missing the cut by 36 pins, and finishing in ninth place, was David Schaberg who totaled 1370 pins while averaging 228 pins. Conner Rogus was next up as he came in at 43rd place as he totaled 1271 pins and averaged 211 pins. Four pins behind Rogus was Nicholas Schaberg with 1267 pins. 

 

Kaden Salts was the fifth top finisher for the Cardinals with a total pinfall of 1206 pins and averaged 204 pins a game.Hunter Fletcher and Tyler Koehn nearly finished back-to-back with pinfalls of 1186 and 1179 respectively and averaged 197 and 196 pins respectively. The final CUAA bowler was Kenji London who totaled 1161 pins and averaged 193 pins. 

 

TEAM RESULTS

The Cardinals completed the first block of baker games in first place with a total score of 3353 pins throughout the 16 baker games. The second set of baker games saw the Cardinals score a tad lower for a total of 3224 and a total on the day of 6577 pins as that was good enough to place the Cardinals third throughout the first half of baker games. 

 

The third block of baker games saw the Cardinals fall one spot to fourth after posting a score of 3080 pins. The fourth and final set of baker games had the Cardinals total 3209 pins, which dropped them to fifth and missed the cut by 28 pins.

The Cardinals will compete next at the NAIA Championships for the second straight year at the Five Star Lanes in Sterling Heights, Michigan on March 20-22.
