Women's Basketball downs Lourdes 63-54 on the road
 
 

(Sylvania, OH) – Concordia women's basketball played at Lourdes on Wednesday night in WHAC play.  The game featured multiple lead changes and runs, but the Cardinals eventually pushed ahead for a 63-54 win. 

Taylor Leatherman's double-double led the team with 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Zaria Mitchner finished second with 12 points.  Samantha Dorn was third with 10 points. 

 

Samantha Dorn had Concordia's first points with a free throw and a jumper.  Taylor Leatherman added a jumpshot and Dorn tied the game 8-8 with a 3-pointer.  Zaria Mitchner and Leatherman drained free throws for the lead and Izzy Hadley drove for a layup in the last minute.  CUAA led 14-12 after the 1st. 

Samantha Dorn started the 2nd with two free throws.  Ellie Kallner knocked down a triple and Taylor Leatherman converted an "and-1".  Izzy Viau scored on a floater and Keirslynn Lawless made a putback for a 26-16 lead.  Lourdes countered with a 9-1 run, but a basket from Izzy Viau put CUAA up 29-25 at halftime. 

 

Izzy Viau hit a quick triple to start the 3rd.  Lourdes briefly took the lead but Taylor Leatherman made a go-ahead drive to respond and McKenzie Maciejewski knocked down a triple.  Lourdes countered with a 13-0 run to pull ahead 9 points.  Taylor Leatherman hit a 3-pointer to stop the run and CUAA trailed 49-41 after the 3rd. 

Taylor Leatherman started an 11-0 run with a layup in the 4thZaria Mitchner chipped in a jumpshot and strong drive to pull within 2.  Taylor Leatherman tied the game with a layup and free throws from Keirslynn Lawless put the Cardinals back up.   

Leatherman and Zaria Mitchner continued to pace the offense down the stretch with baskets and free throws to maintain the lead.  CUAA claimed the 63-54 win as time expired. 

 

Concordia will return home this Saturday to host Indiana Tech at 1pm.
