Leatherman and Dorn both honored on WHAC All-Conference Teams

(Ann Arbor, MI) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced its yearly postseason awards on Friday afternoon and the Cardinals women's basketball members Taylor Leatherman and Samantha Dorn were honored as they were both named to the WHAC All-Conference teams.

 

 

TAYLOR LEATHERMAN | JR | WADSWORTH, OHIO

Leatherman was named the conference co-defensive player of the year along with being named to the All-Conference First Team. Through 28 games this season Leatherman has averaged 14.4 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game. Her point-per-game average is sitting at seventh in the WHAC, while her 8.6 rebounds are second. On the defensive end, she averages 1.4 steals and 6.5 defensive rebounds a game. She was also named to the All-Defensive team.

 

 

SAMANTHA DORN | SR | BROWNSTOWN, MICHIGAN

Dorn was named to the All-Conference Second Team after a season where she averaged 13.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists a game. In the WHAC, Dorn was eighth in the points per game department. She also averaged 0.8 steals a game in the 28 games she played this season.

 

CHAMPION OF CHARACTER

Julia Hirt was also recognized as the team's WHAC Champion of Character. The senior was honored for her commitment to the five core values of integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship, and servant leadership.

 

ALL-ACADEMIC

Also, on Friday WHAC All-Academic teams were named which involve being a junior in Academic standing and having a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Three Cardinals were named to the team including McKenzie Maciejewski, Samantha Dorn, and Taylor Leatherman
