Kayla Peters named women's volleyball NCCAA student-athlete of the week

NCCAA RELEASE

The National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) announced their weekly student-athlete of the week awards on Monday afternoon. The NCCAA recognized Kayla as the women's volleyball student-athlete of the week. Peters led the Cardinals two wins over Lawrence Tech last week recording a total of 32 kills and 44 digs.

The freshman standout continued to display her versatility for the Cardinals in the two game sweep over LTU. The Cardinals defeated the Blue Devils on Wednesday as Peters recorded a team high of 17 kills and 17 assist. Peters performance helped the Cardinals hold on to a crucial 3-1 road win. Peters was as equally effective in Saturday's match as she set new career highs. The Monroe native was all over the court recording 15 kills and 27 digs in the Cardinals 3-1 win. Through five matches, Peters has 68 kills and 57 digs.

This is the first time in Peter's young career that she has received this recognition from the NCCAA. Since Concordia reinstated their NCCAA membership in 2016, Peters is the first Cardinal volleyball player to be recognized for her efforts.  Peters joins fellow Cardinals Ryan Webb (Men's soccer), Gabby Porter (Women's Cross Country), and Samantha Golchuk (Women's Soccer) to be recognized in other sports as an NCCAA student-athlete of the week.
