(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia volleyball hosted UNOH on Monday afternoon as the team continued WHAC play. The Cardinals came in 3-5 overall (3-3 WHAC) while the Racers entered the game 2-6 overall (1-4 WHAC). CUAA performed well throughout the game and claimed the win in straight sets.
Kaitlin Veihl led Concordia with 12 kills and 3 blocks. Hailey McCourt led the team with 21 assists. Tara Schatzle had a team-high 18 digs.
Set 1 – CUAA 25, UNOH 19
Kayla Peters had Concordia's first kill in set 1. The Cardinals came back from an early deficit to tie the game 8-8 on a Kaitlin Veihl ace. A kill by Kayla Peters tied the game 14-14 and CUAA took the lead off UNOH attack errors. Peters and Veihl combined for a block and Concordia cruised to a 25-19 win.
Set 2 – CUAA 25, UNOH 14
Hailey McCourt had the first Cardinal kill in set 2. A kill from Tara Drinane secured a 10-4 CUAA lead. Kaitlin Veihl notched back-to-back service aces and Kayla Peters had two straight kills. Abigail Austin secured the winning kill to claim set two 25-14.
Set 3 – CUAA 25, UNOH 13
Kayla Peters and Kaitlin Veihl made a combined block for an early 3-2 lead. Veihl also combined with Tara Drinane for a block and a service ace from Mckenzie Peters led to a 14-8 advantage. The Cardinals closed out the game on a 7-1 run behind the serves of Hailey McCourt, winning set three 25-18.
Concordia will play their next game at Madonna on Friday, February 26 at 7:00pm.
