Patriots shutout Cardinals 5-0 in non-conference matchup

(Ann Arbor, MI) – Concordia men's soccer continued their non-conference slate on Sunday afternoon hosting University of the Cumberlands. After a scoreless first half, the Patriots used an efficient and balanced attack to defeat the Cardinals 5-0. Several opportunities for the Cardinals in the second half were just off mark.

Martin van der Made recorded for the Patriots with his first coming on a penalty kick in the minute 48th minute. Thirteen minutes later, van der Made added to his total on a pass off a cross and a touch that found the back of the net.

Anthony Tucker (SR/Canton, MI) nearly added a goal to his season total in the 55th minute on a shot that was deflected enough by the Patriots goalie to force the ball high. Boris Illic (JR/Clinton Township, MI) nearly missed on an attack that was wide of the goal.

The Patriots continued their attacking style of play late into the second half adding three goals to their total, 5-0.

The Cardinals will be in action next Saturday when they travel to Pennsylvania for a matchup against Carlow University. The match is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th at 10am.
